  • Show the love...for your modem

All too often the most neglected piece of technology in the home is the humble DSL modem. Just think about it. When its working fine we don't give it a second though. But it's certainly top of mind when it stops doing what it should.

To minimise the chances of a modem not performing at it's best, Alex from Amnet Support has provided some tips to help carry out some modem TLC.

    • Keep your modem dirt and dust-free so it doesn't get clogged up and overheat
    • Periodically switch off and restart your modem to re-establish a ‘clean' line synchronisation
    • Keep external Wi-Fi antennas pointed upwards at the highest point possible
    • Switch off and unplug your modem if you're going away for long periods, or if you've got storms predicted. Power surges are one of the more popular causes for replacing modems.
    • Pets and modems don't mix well. Keep the two apart
    • Keep modem cables well organised and free of cuts or crimps
    • And try and keep modem cables less than a few metres long to minimise line noise
    • Keep a copy of any custom settings in case of a reset or if a fault develops.

In general, share a bit of TLC with your modem and it will look after you for the long-term.

If your modem isn't doing it's bit in your relationship, give us a call on 1300 88 22 32 and we can take a look. Or give us a call to make a time and we'll take a look at your modem in our office in the city.

  • Happy Birthday to me....

Break out the party hats, its party time at Amnet!

Yes, we’re celebrating our 12th Birthday today. Way back in 2000, Amnet started offering residential Internet after the buzz of the millennium bug fizzled and people were RACING along with 56.6kbps dial-up modems.

Over the last 12 years we’ve grown to be a trusted provider of Broadband Internet with numerous awards and a very loyal customer base.

    We’re Celebrating
All new customers signing up TODAY will receive a FREE month and FREE connection on our 12 and 24 month plans. If you’ve got friends who want to take advantage of this special promotion, just quote happybirthday when signing up online or over the phone.

And we haven’t forgotten our loyal customers. We’ve searched through our records and we’re giving our 12 oldest residential customers a free month each to share in the celebrations.
